Who's Who in Catacoustic Groove

This group has had many members and directors over the years. Here's the current crop:

Steve Yializis (Tenor) is rejoining the group after several years away. You'll know his voice from "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on our first CD--that high tenor is Steve. He's finishing his degree work at the U of A and is working with his father on a fast-growing Internet supply-chain business.

Don "Nod" Noddingham (Everything) has been everywhere in Tucson music in the last few years. You may have even seen him with us a few years ago at Downtown Saturday Night. You'll hear him now in CAG, filling out the sound with everything from big-man bass to sweet-as-hell tenor.

Bruce Bayly (Bass) heard about the group while he was teaching his University of Arizona math class (that's "Professor Bayly" to you). Prior to CAG  his  formal musical experience was playing second violin in his High School and College symphony orchestras. His vocal experience was singing lullabies to his two boys, Aiden and Devin. Honestly, what more experience does a guy need?

Erik Herman (Baritone) tried to leave Catacoustic Groove last year, but it's not that easy. He's been an a cappella singer since it rescued him from impending geekdom in 7th grade, and it's never left him. In the meanwhile, he’s gotten his B.A. in Philosophy and is continuing on to become a high school physics teacher. For fun (or to procrastinate!) Erik makes wire sculptures, writes puns, fixes his car, climbs a mountain every once in a while, and sits at Bentley’s to ponder over it all.

Ryan Langner (Bass/Baritone) is a full-time U of A student of graphic design. Ryan's been singing throughout his life, carrying his first tune when he was 10 months old, and later jamming with concert and jazz choirs (including his current gig with the University Symphonic Choir). Ryan enjoys anything outdoors, from hunting and fly fishing to backpacking. He loves to perform and has found it to be a necessity. So, say hello and pat Ryan on the back next time you see him!

Jay Lehman (Tenor) is a native of Michigan. Jay has performed professionally in (or on) stage, t.v., movies and radio since high school, but the majority of Jay's background before CAG had been musical comedy, including shows with the Gaslight Theater, Southern Arizona Light Opera Co. (SALOC) and a full season with the Arizona Opera Company. Once upon a time he was accepted into the Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Clown College over tens of thousands of applicants. The difference today? No face paint.

Harold Russell (Bass) is a Mechanical Engineer who, since being "conned" into a choir audition at Catalina High School, has sung in several choirs at both Catalina High School and Pima College. He's a serious rock climber, bicyclist and general outdoorsman. He is also the only member of the group that was (get ready) born and raised in Tucson.

Mike Zecchino (Baritone) is typing to you right now, in third person. Both of Mike's parents were music teachers, and music has saved the boy more than once. By day Mike lords over a corporate cube farm, and by night he is the proud owner/operator of the burgeoning Nail Recording Studio.
