Welcome to the Catacoustic Groove shack!
For those of you who don't know us: Catacoustic Groove sings a cappella in Tucson,
Arizona, and under the surrounding cacti. The group was born almost six years ago when a
pack of students, and one math professor, joined forces to sing. And back then we sang
everywhere: the underpass, the street corner, the alleys. These days we're all over town,
at festivals, benefits, parties. We sing doo-wop, rock, R&B, blues, jazz...whatever we
derned well feel like. And of course we still sing down in the alley. It's our home.
1999 is kicking along for CAG. Our CD is out and bringing us lots of back-pats. We just
finished another marathon weekend at the Fourth Avenue Street Fair where we partied with a
few thousand friends. We marvelled at the marketing genius up the street who sold
weather vanes to every third person at the Fair. Nice work!
***IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!***
Voting for the 1999 Tammie Awards will be starting up soon. We're on the ballot this
year for our new CD, but dig this: THERE'S NO A CAPPELLA CATEGORY!!! Instead, we've been
placed into some far-less appropriate category, Acoustic Folk, I think. So, we'll need
your help if we're to stand a chance at winning. Keep an eye out for ballots in the Tucson
Weekly and around town, and fill one out for Catacoustic Groove. Support your a cappella!
